2008 In
X-MAS Party to Save the Planet is a charitable event benefiting the Captain Planet Foundation, an
organization that provides programs and grants designed to educate and inspire children to become great
environmental stewards and leaders.
Captain Planet Foundation Chairperson, Laura Turner Seydel, joins 14th Annual X-MAS Party to Save the
Planet Co-Chairs Rick Baker and Sacha Taylor in producing “Superheroes for Earth,” an event celebrating
the fact that each of us, in our own ways, can be Superheroes for Earth by protecting our very fragile
environment and natural resources. The event includes gourmet cuisine, signature drinks, dynamic music,
dazzling décor, silent and live auctions, a showcase of Atlanta’s own high-impact Superheroes for Earth
and an array of celebrities and business leaders. It is clearly one of Atlanta’s hottest parties, held at the
refurbished Tabernacle which boasts over 5 million dollars in dynamic renovations.
Our goal of the event is not only to raise awareness of our planet’s important environmental challenges,
but also to raise money in order to provide grants to schools and youth organizations for eco-education
projects. Our 2009 initiative will be focused on “organic gardens as outdoor classrooms” and will be
attached to integrated curriculum. We support the “No Child Left Inside” movement, and work diligently
on being a catalyst in implementing environmental education in our nation’s schools.

The mission of the Captain Planet Foundation is to fund and support hands-on, environmental projects
for children and youths. Our objective is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and
youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their
neighborhoods and communities. Through environmental education, we believe that children can achieve
a better understanding and appreciation for the world in which they live. |
